About Us
Key Skills For Life ideology derives from personal experiences regarding working with children in different communities for over 20 years. The number of primary school children in pupil referral units (PRU) in England has more than doubled since 2011, raising concerns that the surge in school exclusions is affecting even the youngest children in the education system. While the vast majority of PRUs are for students who have been excluded from secondary school, official government data has shown a sharp increase in children under the age of 11 being taught in a PRU.

Government research shows that on average nationwide 715 children aged between 5 and 10 were being educated in a PRU, but within 12 months of that particular report the number had increased to 1,572. Currently the total number of children being educated in a PRU fluctuates at 11,684. Independent research estimates less that 30% of these children will go on to be productive members of society. The children representing the remaining percentage will have to navigate through a maze of crime/abuse/ and untreated mental issues. Upon leaving PRU support, these young teenagers tend to slip through the cracks becoming statistics regarding crime and social abuse.

Key Skills For Life creates a purposeful early fork in the road for children that need support to improve and flourish. We lead the child to alternative possibilities to improve before all traditional support systems become exhausted. We strongly believe that creative preemptive support particularly designed around rehabilitation and self awareness, will help to decrease PRU attendance along with enhancing SEN/Behavior Departments support options. Catering for children who posses obvious mental and physical talents are also part of our service offerings.
We do this by aligning children to specific coaches/mentors/professionals within their chosen area of interest, enhancing our ideology by obtaining early industry access. The Industry access provides a behind the scenes experience built into the mentoring process so a child may witness the highest levels of their interest in action. This part of our ideology also doubles as a graduation process for children embarking on their improvement road map.
